If budget didn’t exist, these are four things we’d put in almost every home.
1. Curves
A lot of homes are made up almost entirely of straight lines. Walls, doors, windows, cabinetry. Introducing curves softens that rigidity and instantly makes a space feel more welcoming. It’s one of the simplest ways to create warmth.
2. A large natural stone kitchen island
Not just because it looks beautiful, but because it becomes the social centre of the home. People rarely gather around a dining table the way they gather around an island.
3. A fireplace
Even when it’s not lit, a fireplace gives a room a focal point. It naturally draws people together and creates a sense of permanence that few other design features can.
4. A statement moment at the entrance
The entrance sets the tone for everything that follows. Whether it’s a dramatic light fitting, an oversized piece of artwork, or an incredible staircase, people form an impression of a home within seconds of arriving.
None of these are purely decorative. They all change the way a home is experienced, which is why we’d choose them every time.
Storage, appliances and everyday clutter are all essential, but they’re rarely what you want to see when you walk into a room.
For this project, we designed a concealed pantry hidden within the bedroom joinery. When closed, it simply reads as part of the architecture. No visual interruption, no obvious utility, just a calm and cohesive backdrop.
It’s a principle we come back to often: good design isn’t always about what you add. Sometimes it’s about what you choose to hide.

Bedside tables are surprisingly difficult to style well because they’re one of the hardest-working surfaces in the home.
One trick we often use is starting with a larger grounding object. This could be a table lamp, a vase, or a sculptural piece. Having one substantial item immediately gives the arrangement structure and stops the surface from feeling like a collection of random objects.
Next, corral the smaller items. Watches, jewellery, hand cream, glasses, and chargers can quickly create visual noise. A simple tray groups these everyday essentials together, making them feel intentional rather than chaotic.
And perhaps the most overlooked detail of all: cables. Few things undermine a beautifully styled bedside table faster than a tangle of charging wires. Taking a few minutes to conceal or manage them can make a remarkable difference to how polished the space feels.
The best bedside tables aren’t necessarily the most styled. They’re the ones that strike the right balance between beauty and practicality, making everyday life feel just a little more considered.
Not every renovation adds value.
The best projects balance lifestyle and resale.
A few principles we always keep in mind:
• Prioritise open-plan living. It supports entertaining, family life, and remains highly desirable among European buyers.
• Choose bedroom space over oversized wardrobes. Storage can be added later, but square footage cannot.
• Be cautious with highly personal finishes. The broader the appeal, the stronger the resale potential.
The most valuable renovations aren’t always the most expensive. They’re the ones that future buyers can easily see themselves living in.
Coffee table styling is one of those things that seems simple until you realise how much it changes the overall feeling of a room.
A good place to start is with an anchor piece. This could be a tray, a large vase, a stack of books, or a sculptural object. Anchors help ground the styling and stop the table from feeling scattered or overly random.
From there, think about height and variation. The most visually interesting tables usually combine lower objects with something taller to draw the eye upward and create movement across the surface. If everything sits at the same level, the arrangement can feel flat very quickly.
We also tend to style in odd numbers wherever possible. Groups of three or five naturally feel more organic and balanced to the eye than perfectly symmetrical pairings. It creates that effortless, collected feeling people are often trying to achieve.
And finally, leave space. A coffee table should still feel functional and breathable, not like every inch has been filled for the sake of styling. The best accessorising often comes from knowing when to stop.
